Frank Sinatra is an icon of American musical cool selling over 250 million
records in his long and legendary career. He began as a rail-thin crooner during
World War II and matured into the most respected pop singer of his generation.
Sinatra developed a reputation as a well-dressed, fast-living swinger with a top-dog swagger that earned him the nickname 'The Chairman of
the Board.' Frank Sinatra was the acknowledged leader of the Hollywood 'Rat
Pack' of the early 1960s, which included more notably Dean Martin and Sammy
Davis Jnr. Musically he was beloved as a stylish, heartfelt singer of old-school
swing standards including Come Fly With Me, New York, New York, Strangers in the
Night and One For My Baby.
"I have paid attention to every note and every word I sing- if I respect the song. If I cannot project this to a listener, I fail" - Frank Sinatra.
Dean Martin began his career as a prizefighter, steel mill laborer and a card
shark before hitting stardom in 1946 with comic Jerry Lewis, he soon became one of the
highest paid celebrities in the business that later went on to star in over 50
films juggling his singing & on-screen careers.
If there had to be one image for cool, the one man to fit this image would be Dean Martin, loved for his quick witted humour and laid back personality he was the 'Don' of the 'Rat Pack' and the kingpin of the outfit.
"The satisfaction that I get out of working with these two bums is that we have more laughs than the audience"- Dean Martin.
From his early years in Vaudeville, performing with his father & uncle, to the casino theaters of Las Vegas, the
career of Sammy Davis Jr ranged from song -and-dance man, Broadway show
performer, film actor, recording star and cabaret artist. In 1959 Sammy became a regular
member of the 'Rat Pack' a controversial character fondly known as 'Smokey' to
the clan because of his severe cigarette habit. He was the joker of the pack and will always be remembered for his timeless
classic - Mr Bojangles.
"During three decades along all the highways of my youth Frank Sinatra had always been there for me" - Sammy Davis Junior.
